Americans:
We are the bastard children of a once wealthy and now wilting household.
We are bastards because we do not know our father,
but he was a great man. He loved our mother,
and he left lessons of independence and ingenuity to break the mold.
 
He told us to speak our minds at any cost
He told us to to defend ourselves,
to keep the rights of homes from being lost.
 
He told us to keep private what we will.
To not be punished without proof by reason and right
and to be by those with clear and unbiased sight.
 
Our Father died long ago
and he left our inheritance,
in his will, a true deliverance
meant for each child to know.
 
But now under our own advice,
our lovely mother
has taken another lover.
 
He’s a man whose words are vice
but look of loving favor,
for those who never look twice.
 
See now the house is dilapidation
for all his failed giving
and tangled miseducation.
 
And now while we are sleeping
he rapes mother in desperation,
he gambles her money and our liberation
in a war with neighbors that is ever steeping.
 
He is a man who defecates on our fathers will
who says he deserves the power
to pillage, profit and kill.
 
But now we see through his woven words
in a time when amenities are worn and gone
where us children hunger in hordes;
 
When our neighbors all want us dead
because we ruin their homes
over the promises that stepfather said.
 
But father’s will is still in plain view
And all his lessons, we can still learn to do,
if we cultivate the passions of me you and you,
and be a household that values love and what is true.
 
Or we can be the bastard children left in poverty and pain,
and follow all the other empires that flew down the drain,
because stepfather got power and went insane.
